Scope and purpose: When using the website for information purposes only, i.e. if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server according to the settings you have made (server log files).

The data is used for the technical optimization of the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. The IP address is necessary for the operation and delivery of the website, is shortened in the log files and is no longer available as a whole after the request. It is not possible for us to draw direct conclusions about individual persons from this data. A comparison with other databases does not take place.
We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use.

Legal basis: The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR in conjunction with para. 3 in conjunction with Section 4 LDSG or Section 12 LHG
Storage period: The personal data is stored for as long as is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. The data will be deleted after seven days at the latest. - Use of SoSci Survey
You have the option of using the SoSci Survey service hosted by us on this website.
Scope and purpose: In addition to the data mentioned above, no other data is stored when you use SoSci Survey. In particular, no IP addresses are stored.
All data that you and/or the participants enter in SoSci Survey is stored or processed by us.
The SoSci Survey service can be used anonymously, i.e. without the processing of personal data, if designed accordingly.
If the SoSci Survey service is not used anonymously, i.e. with personal data, it is necessary that this is only done with a legal basis in accordance with Art. 6 GDPR (see below).
Recipients: The data will not be passed on to third parties.
Legal basis: The legal basis for the processing of the personal data that you or participating third parties have entered when using SoSciSurvey is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (consent).
Consent is given voluntarily. Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. Effect for the future means that the withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. There are no disadvantages if consent is refused or withdrawn.
Storage period: The personal data is stored for as long as is necessary for the above-mentioned purposes, i.e. we store the data for as long as consent is given.
- Making contact (e-mail, telephone, form)
Scope and purpose: If you contact us by e-mail, telephone or via a form, the contact data you provide, such as your e-mail address, telephone number and, if applicable, your name, will be stored for the purpose of processing and responding to your inquiry.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Recipients: If it is necessary to respond to your contact, personal data may be forwarded to relevant departments within KIT. The responsible KIT employees will use your personal data exclusively to process your request. The data will not be passed on to third parties.
Legal basis: The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR in conjunction with para. 3 in conjunction with § 4 LDSG or § 12 LHG.
Storage period: The personal data will be stored for as long as is necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, i.e. the data will be deleted when it can be assumed that an exchange is no longer desired. - Links to other websites
If we link to websites outside the KIT, the data protection notices and declarations there apply.
- TLS encryption
This site uses TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as the requests you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot generally be read by third parties. Please note, however, that when data is transmitted over the Internet, it is never possible to guarantee complete protection against access by third parties. - Your rights
You have the following rights vis-à-vis us with regard to your personal data:
- Right to withdraw your consent with effect for the future, provided that the processing is based on consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR (Article 7(3) GDPR)
- Right to confirmation as to whether data concerning you is being processed and to information about the processed data, to further information about the data processing and to copies of the data (Article 15 GDPR)
- Right to rectification or completion of inaccurate or incomplete data (Article 16 GDPR)
- Right to erasure of data concerning you without undue delay (Article 17 GDPR)
