MariaDB SQL databases for KIT applications and students
MariaDB (formerly MySQL-DB) is an open source database system that is particularly popular in the web environment.
KIT employees and students can request a MariaDB database (formerly MySQL database) in the SCC with their KIT account or service account. This service is free of charge for students, otherwise see the current Services

Currently the self-service functionalities: Main Account, Subaccount Create and Password Reset are not available via web.

Parallel to the commercial, highly professional database solutions from Oracle and Microsoft, we offer, from the open-source area, the very popular and widespread database development - MySQL. With a MySQL client or with a web-based, administrative database tool (e.g. phpMyAdmin) you can access your data flexibly and without restrictions, no matter if you are a Linux, Windows or MAC user.
NewMySQL version5.7 in use since June 2017. If you don't have MySQL database yet please use our new platform for it: Create a MySQL 5.7 database
Included services
- User account and the corresponding database on the MySQL database server
- Backup service with up to 14 calendar days of data retention.
Services not included
- SQL development, error analysis
- LAMP installations (see Web Services)
Backup older than 14 days. For requirements beyond this period, backup is the responsibility of the database operator.
