LapTop Net Access (LTA)

Laptop Net Access (LTA) provides network sockets at KIT where you can access the Internet with your laptop. All you need is an Ethernet connection on your laptop and a patch cable. The laptop should be set to DHCP for the wired network connection. Once an IP address has been obtained, authentication is required to gain access to the Internet: either via a VPN connection or authentication via the web portal. A KIT account or a WLAN guest account is required for authentication via the web portal. If the authentication page does not open automatically, it can be opened manually via the URL https://captive-portal.scc.kit.edu.

The connections on the North Campus are known as guest networks and are currently not specially marked.

At the South Campus, the connections are marked with signs (the active side of the connection socket is marked on the sign):
