Collaboration
The Microsoft Exchange Server product is used as a mail server at KIT. In addition to your own mailbox, you can also access other mailboxes with the appropriate permissions, e.g. as a delegate (boss/secretary, teams, etc.) or as the person responsible for a functional mailbox.
There are normally two permission groups for functional mailboxes, namely OU-Name-VZ for full mailbox access and OU-Name-SA for send-as rights. The members of these groups can be changed by the ITB (OU-Admin) in the central group administration or in the Active Directory (KIT-AD), depending on where the group is managed.
Permissions for folders within the mailbox can be set by anyone with full mailbox access or owner rights to the folder.
The instructions show how to add a functional mailbox or just open the calendar. Access to other people's mailboxes is done in the same way.
Some clients do not offer the option of configuring the mailbox and user name independently of each other or full access is required to configure an Exchange account. In this case, it can help to access the inbox via IMAP, the calendar via CalDAV and the contacts via CardDAV. If the client does not support this, there are probably add-ins, e.g. (free) apps for mobile devices.
Functional mailboxes can be used as a resource , e.g. for the administration of room booking or as a shared calendar. The CalendarConcierge can be used to enable the automatic processing of meeting requests so that the resource automatically accepts or rejects them.
Note: Outlook is available to every user via Remote Desktop Services .
