Computeralgebra
Computer algebra systems are used to solve mathematical problems with the help of symbolic methods. The main advantages over numerical methods are that solutions for an entire problem class can be determined and the results are not subject to rounding errors.
In recent years, computer algebra systems have developed into problem-solving environments that implement both symbolic and numerical methods and offer a wide range of visualization options. The two systems Maple and Mathematica are installed at the computing center of the University of Karlsruhe. Both systems are available on different platforms on the systems of the computer center as well as for institute computers within the scope of a state license.
