Installation note
Installation and Authorization Instructions
The download of the frequently used ESRI products is available in the SCC software store or on "My Esri". The software is authorized online during installation at Esri. To do this, you must enter the authorization numbers that you received from the software store with your order confirmation. For the desktop products ArcEditor, ArcView and ArcInfo (ArcGIS Desktop) two installation variants are possible:
Single Use
This installation variant is suitable for single workstations and especially for laptops. You have to be connected to the KIT network during the installation for the authorization process. Afterwards you can work with the software without network access.
Concurrent Use
This variant is suitable for the installation of a larger number of computers, e.g. in pool rooms, since for this an authorization does not have to be made online for each individual computer. For such network installations the license server "scclic2.scc.kit.edu" (port 27004) is available at KIT.
Please refer to the installation and authorization instructions for the ArcGIS 10.x products on Esri's websites:
- Installation overview
- Installing ArcGIS Desktop on your computer
- Introduction to installing and configuring ArcGIS Desktop
For the use of ArcGIS pro Esri recommends a so-called Named User License. This requires a registration in the KIT area of ArcGIS online. To get access there, contact <kit-esri-admin∂lists.kit.edu> with your KIT email address under the keyword "Access to ArcGIS online (https://kit.maps.arcgis.com)". Alternatively, ArcGIS pro can also be used with concurrent-use licenses via the SCC license server mentioned above.
System requirements
Before you start the installation, please read the system requirements on the manufacturer's website:
