Autodesk has changed the license conditions in the education area and now offers free access to education licenses via the Autodesk Education Community for use in research and teaching. A good overview can be found in the presentation EDU_PPT_Software_Site.pdf.

If the use of the software is for purposes other than non-commercial learning, teaching, training, research and development, it is commercial use (see license terms).

Please note that Autodesk currently only issues license files for 1 year. Renewal of these license files is usually only possible for older versions for the last 4 versions.
Please be prepared to switch to a current version after 2 years.

For workstations and pool rooms on campus, the SCC provides network licenses through a central license manager. Currently, licenses for the following products and suites are available through the license manager scclic6.scc.kit.edu:

There is no license server model available for Fusion 360 (cloud solution). However, you can request your own license (see below) at any time through the Education Community and use Fusion 360.

For single-user licenses for students and staff, the software can be selected, downloaded, and then installed at the https://www.autodesk.com/education/home web page. Creating an Autodesk account is mandatory for this. The use of these licenses is limited to a maximum of 2 "personal" workstations, i.e. workstations related to the Autodesk account. The SCC has no administrative possibilities with these single workstation licenses. In case of problems, you must therefore unfortunately contact Autodesk directly.

The software is distributed via shares. All the necessary information for the installation can be found in the file https://ftp.scc.kit.edu/pub/campus/AUTODESK/Education_Community/Lizenzdaten.txt.
You can only access this link from the campus network. If you are not in the campus network you have to connect to it e.g. via VPN.

If the use of the software is for purposes other than non-commercial learning, teaching, training, research and development, it is commercial use.

For example, educational licenses may NOT be used for research with the intention of generating income or for the real estate management (facility management ) of the educational institution. Use for the real estate management of the educational institution means, for example, that the software is used for the planning, construction and maintenance of the buildings and infrastructure of the educational institution. Commercial licenses must be purchased for these purposes.

The currently applicable Software License Agreements must be adhered to.
