General information

Virtual web servers are operated by the SCC in a fail-safe cluster and are used to run your own applications. The Apache configuration can be extended and customized by the owner. Login and upload options are available and it is possible to integrate your own applications.

Ordering virtual web servers

Booking takes place via an application for a virtual web server account (web account) at the ServiceDesk.

Cancellation

The individual packages must be canceled by the IT representative/OE manager via the ServiceDesk (sample ticket)

Applying for domain names

The central authority for the allocation of domain names is Karlsruhe Names and Numbers (KNN). Subdomains such as abc.kit.edu or second-level domains are applied for via the KNN.
