The Need for Pre-Restore
Pre-Restore as an inverse backup: recall files from tape to disk cache in order to get fast restores
Scenario: on Saturday evening, via dial-in, you discover that a vital disk in the fileserver has died. Start a pre-Restore on the ADSM server from home.
On Monday morning, buy a new disk on the way to work and do a flash restore from ADSM‘s disk cache (which may sit in Göttingen)
